Wildlife Walks

If you fancy something different from the usual guided tour then one of our wildlife walks might be just the thing you are looking for. Our walks are full day walks but don't worry you don't need to be super fit, we can do leisurely 4 mile or slightly more energetic 8 miles versions of all these walks (or something tailored specifically for your ability if required) and we frequently stop to enjoy the wildlife we encounter. During the day we will look for fungi, plants, birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and anything else we might spot on the day.

Our favourite wildlife walks

Cromford Canal, Derbyshire

A beautiful walk along the Cromford canal, famous for its great views of water voles. There is also the chance of grass snakes, dippers, grey wagtail and many woodland birds, plus an array of floral delights in spring and summer.

Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire

Ancient woodland steeped in myth and history but also jam-packed full of wildlife. Veteran trees, fungi, fallow and roe deer, woodland birds including nuthatch, all three woodpeckers, redstarts and tree pipits in summer and plenty of woodland flowers too.

Flamborough, East Yorkshire

A different way to experience the sights and sounds of the famous east coast seabird colonies. Walk along the Cleveland Way as it follows the rugged coastline near Flamborough enjoying close encounters with gannets, guillemots, puffins, razorbills and kittiwakes. We also frequently see eider duck, porpoises, migrants and peregrine. *Best between MAY and AUGUST

Cowhouse Bank, North Yorkshire

Rugged heather moorland, coniferous woodland and fantastic views of the North Yorkshire countryside, this walk has them all. A chance to get up close to the giant wood ant nests, see breeding red grouse, curlew and lapwing and to enjoy the beautiful upland flora. *Best between APRIL and SEPTEMBER

Holme Dunes, Norfolk

Using sections of the Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path, this walk brings you close to the fantastic wildlife of the North Norfolk Coast. Marsh harriers often soar overhead and grey seals can be seen off the shore. In winter you can marvel at the vast numbers of wildfowl and waders on the shoreline, in summer look for breeding terns, avocets and black-tailed godwits, common lizards, a huge range of wild flowers, a great walk all year round, one of our favourites.
